About Gators |

The Gators are a year round competitive swimming
organization that practices at the Downtown YMCA on 615 W. Franklin
Blvd. We are members of U.S.A Swimming, North Carolina
Swimming and the BlueRidge Swim League. Click here to see
description with fee schedule for 2007-2008. The following are Gator Groups and their descriptions: Li'l Gators Lil Gators are usually age 8 and under. These swimmers swim in certain meets for which they are qualified. This group concentrates on learning flip turns and perfecting starts and strokes and endurance. Practice is offered four days per week for a total of 2.5 hours. Gatorbits Gatorbits are usually made up of members ages 9-12; however, coach's consideration extends the age of this swimmer up or down. This group concentrates on truns, starts, strokes and endurance. Practice is offered four days per week for a total of 4 hours. Gatorines Gatorines are usually ages 9-12. However, coach's consideration extends the age of this group up or down. Concentration is on strokes, turns, and start techniques plus racing skills. This group practices up to four days per week for a total of 6 hours. Juniors Gators Junior Gators ages are usually 11 and up but the coach will consider other younger qualified swimmers. Concentration is on all aspects of swimming. These swimmers practice 5-6 days per week for a total of 9 hours. Seniors Gators Senior Gators ages usually range from 12-18 for this most advanced group of swimmers. Workouts are advanced and designed for the seasoned swimmer. Seniors practice 5-6 days per week for a total of 12 hours. Other swim times may be available for extra practices during the year according to pool availability. |
